LPG Crisis Live Updates: LPG Ships Head to India as Government Assures Supply

India is monitoring the cooking gas situation closely as concerns over LPG supply grow in several sectors.

The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways confirmed that two LPG vessels are on their way to India. The ships Nanda Devi and Shivalik carry about 92,700 metric tonnes of LPG. Both ships have crossed the Strait of Hormuz and are heading toward Indian ports.

Officials expect Shivalik to arrive on March 16, while Nanda Devi will reach on March 17. These shipments will strengthen the country’s LPG supply.

Restaurants and Schools Feel the Pressure

Several sectors have already started facing challenges. Restaurants, hostels, and food services report disruptions in kitchen operations.

In New Delhi, some private schools warned that lunch services may suffer if LPG supply tightens further. Malls in the capital also asked restaurants to operate carefully. Many outlets now manage their kitchens with around 80% of their normal gas supply.

Government Asks People Not to Panic

The government urged citizens to remain calm and avoid panic buying. Officials confirmed that oil companies continue normal deliveries across the country.

Currently, distributors deliver around 50 lakh LPG cylinders every day. This supply level helps maintain stability in the market.

Authorities also increased monitoring to stop rumours and black marketing. Officials warned that strict action will follow if anyone spreads misinformation or hoards LPG cylinders.

Supply Situation Remains Stable

The government says the LPG supply situation remains under control. The arrival of the two vessels will further improve availability.

Officials continue to track demand across cities. They aim to prevent disruptions in households, restaurants, schools, and industries.
