Delhi Gets a Major Makeover Ahead of 18th BRICS Leaders’ Summit

New Delhi: Delhi is getting a major makeover ahead of the 18th BRICS Leaders’ Summit 2026. The capital has added colourful lights, floral displays, landscaped roads and BRICS-themed signages.

India will host the summit on September 12 and 13 as part of its BRICS chairship. The event will take place at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.

Leaders from BRICS member and partner countries are expected to attend the summit. Outreach invitees will also join discussions on global and regional issues.

Central Delhi Gets BRICS-Themed Decorations

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has decorated several important locations across central Delhi.

Officials have installed decorative lights at Patel Chowk, Windsor Place, Mandi House, Teen Murti, Lok Kalyan Metro Station and the PMO roundabout.

The civic body has also installed LED displays featuring the BRICS Summit logo. Officials have placed BRICS-themed posters on street-light poles along key routes.

NDMC has focused on routes connecting the airport and designated hotels with Bharat Mandapam. These routes will see significant movement during the summit.

17 Roundabouts and Major Buildings Get Illuminated

NDMC has illuminated 17 major roundabouts as part of the summit preparations.

The civic body has also decorated around 12 hotel premises and 10 prominent NDMC buildings with lights.

Officials have added lighting to trees, shrubs and landscaped areas near important hotels. Major roads have also received decorative lighting.

NDMC teams checked streetlights along all summit-related routes. They replaced faulty lights during the inspection.

The civic body has also given around 350 electrical panel boxes a new look with BRICS-themed branding.

Over 15,000 Plants Added Across New Delhi

NDMC has launched a large horticultural drive across New Delhi.

The civic body is placing more than 15,000 potted ornamental plants at prominent locations. Teams are also installing floral boards at 15 locations.

Nine locations will feature floral fountains.

Officials have increased landscaping and plantation work along major roads. They have also intensified pruning and trimming of hedges and shrubs.

BRICS Friendship Rose Garden Gets Special Attention

The BRICS Friendship Rose Garden in Chanakyapuri has also received special attention ahead of the summit.

India established the garden in 2016, when it hosted the BRICS Summit. The garden currently features 107 varieties of roses.

NDMC teams are carrying out landscaping and grass-cutting work at the garden. They are also pruning plants and adding decorative floral arrangements.

The work extends to routes surrounding the garden in the diplomatic enclave.

MCD and PWD Inspect Key Delhi Routes

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and the Public Works Department (PWD) are also preparing key areas for the summit.

Officials from both departments have inspected Bharat Mandapam, Sarai Kale Khan, Lodhi Road, Nizamuddin, Saket and Sheikh Sarai.

Authorities have directed teams to increase sanitation and cleaning work. They have also asked officials to deploy enough workers and machinery along important routes.

Delhi Prepares to Welcome BRICS Delegates

Delhi authorities are working to improve the city’s appearance before the international summit.

The preparations include decorative lighting, floral installations, landscaping and improved sanitation.

The makeover will give key parts of the capital a cleaner and more welcoming appearance as India prepares to receive international delegates.

India’s BRICS 2026 Presidency

India assumed the BRICS chairship on January 1, 2026. This marks the country’s fourth time leading the grouping.

India’s 2026 BRICS presidency follows the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.”

The 18th BRICS Leaders’ Summit will take place on September 12 and 13, 2026, at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.

Yoast issues addressed

  • Passive voice: Reduced significantly by replacing “is being done” structures with active constructions such as “NDMC has installed,” “officials have placed,” and “teams checked.”
  • Sentence length: Most sentences are now 20 words or fewer, which should bring the percentage of long sentences below Yoast’s 25% recommendation.
  • Readability: Shorter paragraphs and clearer H2 headings should also improve overall readability.

Tip: After pasting this version into WordPress, run Yoast again. The exact percentage can vary slightly depending on how Yoast counts headings, dates and quoted text.
