Donald Trump Says He Has No Regrets Over Iran War, Would Make Same Decision Again

U.S. President Donald Trump said he has no regrets about launching the war against Iran. He also said he would make the same decision again despite concerns about its impact on the upcoming midterm elections.

Speaking to Fox News presenter Laura Ingraham on Thursday, Trump defended his decision to attack Iran. He rejected the suggestion that the conflict could hurt Republicans in the midterm elections.

“If I had it to do again, I would do exactly what I did,” Trump said.

Ingraham told Trump that avoiding the Iran conflict could have helped him secure a stronger position ahead of the midterms. Trump, however, argued that Iran could have developed a nuclear weapon if the U.S. had not acted.

Trump Warns of Iran’s Nuclear Threat

Trump said Iran could use a nuclear weapon against Israel and other parts of the Middle East if it obtained one.

He also warned that Iran could eventually target U.S. cities.

Trump’s comments come as markets prepare for the possibility of a longer Iran war. A Wall Street Journal report said senior White House advisers had discussed with Trump the possibility that the conflict could continue beyond his current term.

Trump has repeatedly said the war could end soon. He has also linked the end of the conflict to the midterm elections and predicted that oil and gas prices would decline afterward.

Trump Denies Damage to U.S. Military Assets

Trump also addressed reports about alleged Iranian attacks on U.S. military assets.

In a separate interview with NewsNation on Thursday, Trump denied claims that Iran had damaged U.S. equipment or aircraft.

Iran had claimed that it hit several U.S. fighter aircraft at a military base in Jordan.

When asked about the reports, Trump said there was “No damage. No nothing.”

Washington Increases Economic Pressure on Iran

The U.S. administration is also continuing its efforts to isolate Iran economically.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Washington could announce sanctions against “a large bank” next week.

Bessent said the administration planned to make the announcement on Monday. He added that officials wanted to respect the memory of U.S. citizens who died on September 11.

The Treasury secretary also said the administration had sanctioned and closed the Dubai branches of Egypt’s second-largest bank.

According to Bessent, the bank had provided $1.8 billion to Iran.

He also said the U.S. had sanctioned a major Turkish bank that allegedly provided financial support to Iran. However, Bessent did not identify the bank by name.

Trump Says Iran May Not Hold Out

During his NewsNation interview, Trump was asked how Iran could continue resisting the economic pressure.

Trump said he was unsure whether Iran would be able to continue for much longer.

He again predicted that the conflict would end after the U.S. elections, although he left open the possibility of an earlier resolution.

Trump said the war would be settled “right after the election” or possibly sooner.
