Lucknow Vikas Nagar Fire Tragedy: Two Children Dead, Over 50 Families Left Homeless

A devastating fire that broke out on Wednesday evening in Vikas Nagar, Lucknow, has claimed the lives of two young children and left more than 50 families homeless. The tragic incident, triggered by multiple gas cylinder explosions, has shaken the entire locality and prompted urgent response from authorities.

Fire Erupts Suddenly, Causes Massive Destruction

The blaze reportedly started around 5:30 PM in the slum clusters under the Vikas Nagar police station area. Within minutes, the fire spread rapidly across the densely packed huts, leaving residents with little time to escape or save their belongings.

According to officials, over 10 gas cylinders exploded one after another, intensifying the fire and turning the area into a disaster zone. The flames were so intense that they could be seen from nearly 5 kilometers away.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (East), Diksha Sharma, confirmed the heartbreaking deaths of two children who were unable to escape the inferno.

Massive Rescue Operation Launched

More than 20 fire tenders were rushed to the spot from multiple fire stations, including nearby areas. Firefighters battled the flames for several hours before finally bringing the situation under control.

As a precautionary measure, authorities evacuated around 10 nearby houses and cut off electricity in the affected zone to prevent further damage.

Currently, teams are engaged in clearing debris to ensure no one else remains trapped.

Families Left Homeless, Locals Demand Inquiry

The fire has completely destroyed over 50 shanties, leaving dozens of families without shelter. Eyewitnesses described scenes of panic as residents fled for safety amid continuous cylinder blasts.

Some locals have raised concerns over the cause of the fire and are demanding a high-level investigation, suspecting possible negligence or foul play.

Government Assures Support and Orders Probe

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh expressed deep concern over the incident and spoke with district authorities, directing them to provide immediate assistance to the victims.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also instructed officials to speed up relief and rehabilitation efforts. Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak visited the site to assess the situation and ensure proper medical care for the injured.

Authorities have ordered a detailed investigation into the cause of the fire.

Animals Also Affected in the Tragedy

The fire did not spare livestock, as several animals suffered burn injuries. Animal welfare teams have rescued multiple cattle and shifted them to a municipal gaushala for treatment.

Officials confirmed that at least two cows are currently receiving medical care, while several others have been rescued safely.

Ongoing Relief and Recovery Efforts

Rescue and relief operations are still underway, with authorities focusing on providing shelter, food, and medical assistance to affected families. The administration has assured full support to help victims rebuild their lives after this tragic loss.
