On this day last year, a deadly attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, carried out by the Pakistan-based terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba, claimed the lives of 26 innocent people—most of them tourists from different parts of India.
PM Modi Remembers Pahalgam Attack Victims
On the first anniversary of the Pahalgam terror attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday (April 22, 2026) reaffirmed India’s firm stand against terrorism. He said the country will never bow to terror, and such acts will never succeed.
While remembering the victims, he said the nation will always honor the innocent lives lost. He also expressed solidarity with the bereaved families as they cope with the tragedy.
Deadly Attack That Shook the Nation
The Pakistan-based terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba carried out the attack in Pahalgam on April 22, 2025. The incident claimed 26 lives. Most victims were tourists from different parts of India.
“As a nation, we stand united in grief and resolve. India will never bow to any form of terror,” the Prime Minister said.
India’s Strong Response: Operation Sindoor
After the attack, India launched a retaliatory military operation named Operation Sindoor. The forces targeted terror camps and military infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
This action showed India’s firm and decisive approach against terrorism.
Leaders Reaffirm Zero-Tolerance Policy
Union Home Minister Amit Shah paid tribute to the victims. He said the nation still feels the pain but remains strong in its fight against terror. He also stressed that terrorism is the biggest threat to humanity.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said India now responds strongly to cross-border threats. He added that the country will take firm action against any attempt to harm its people.
India’s Global Stand Against Terrorism
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar reaffirmed India’s commitment to fighting terrorism worldwide. He said the country remains firm in its resolve.
Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan called the attack a painful reminder of terrorism’s human cost. He said it marked a turning point in India’s fight.
Meanwhile, Social Justice Minister Virendra Kumar said the nation will never forget the innocent lives lost in Pahalgam.
